Introversion is not a myth
The awkwardly social animal human sometimes feel trapped between the opinions and reality. Opinion about how one should be or how one should behave. Humans are hungry of social interaction and therefore they live in a group or surround themselves with people of similar kind. But are all the humans need to exhibit the same trait? Or are there a separate category who like to be isolated. You all might have heard about the Myers-Briggs Personality Test, which was introduced by Katharine Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers as an adaptation theory to Carl’s Jung theory. This theory is based on 16 personality types which have four preferences: Extraversion and Introversion, Sensing and Intuition, Thinking and Feeling and lastly Judgement and Perception. These preferences decides if an individual is an Extrovert or Introvert and describe their personality traits. Being an Extrovert or Introvert is not an Individual’s choice but some introverts get to hear why are you so quiet? Why do you always insert earphones and avoid your surroundings? Why’d you create your own world and many more. But no one tries to understand that it is the way they are. Instead they question their behavior and tell them that they are weird and not normal. Some misconceive introversion as shyness, but being shy is not the same as being an introvert as shy people hesitate and are unable to open up in public while Introverts are generally quite when they are in an unknown surrounding and speak more than any extrovert when they are comfortable around anyone. Introverts look for deep connections and so they don’t make friends so easily. They look for meaningful conversations and are very good listeners. They are keen observers and they observe more than anyone can notice. Are these qualities any different to be called a normal human being? The answer is NO. In a world full of extroverts excelling in every field it is difficult for any intro to make himself/herself stand out. And when they don’t get the support and understanding it sometimes becomes difficult for them to stay optimistic. Introverts are not negative people but they absorb the feelings either of happiness or sadness very easily from their surroundings. All that matters is Introverts are all like any other individual, it’s just a personality trait that makes them different but not abnormal. They are often considered weak because they don’t speak much but this makes them doubt themselves. If you find yourself enjoying your own company, spending most of the time talking to yourself and prefer using text messages over phone call then you don’t have to worry, these are just a few signs that you are an introvert( not necessarily). Introverts are definitely neglected and are considered incapable and despicable but these names who made great leaders will make anyone amazed. The founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, The co-founder of Apple inc., Steve Wozniac, The founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerbarg, Nobel Laureate Albert Einstein, Abraham Lincoln, Sir Issac Newton, Marissa Mayer, J.K Rowling, Warren Buffet, Elon Musk, Barack Obama and the list goes on. All these renowned personalities established their names as the great leaders of all time through their hard work, passion and dedication. Introverts too can reach heights in whichever work area they are interested in and like any other individual they also need the love, support and understanding but not someone to question their worth and existence. “Being an introvert does not mean you are a loser or socially awkward, it just means you need to be alone when others need to be with people”- Kevin Pasco, Co-founder of Nested Natural.
